Feature #6744

closed

ruby unable to run system commands that require elevated privileges

Added by rogerdpack (Roger Pack) over 11 years ago. Updated about 6 years ago.

Status:
Feedback
Target version:
-
[ruby-core:46522]

Description

Examples, download this file:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/smplayer/files/SMPlayer/0.6.9/smplayer-0.6.9-win32.exe

then attempt

system("./smplayer-0.6.9-win32.exe")
=> nil

(it should have worked, but displayed an elevated privilege command prompt--python does this, cmd does this).
Cheers!

About UAC, I'm untouching now.
It is dicfficult to design and implement into 2.0.0, I guess.

If python does something to manage UNC, please tell me what python does :)

Looks a feature request rather than a bug?
Anyway I postpone this ticket to next minor.
