Steps to reproduce:

$ tar xvf ruby-2.6.5.tar.gz
$ cd ruby-2.6.5
$ ./configure
$ make

Just to be sure, I also attempted this with GCC versions 8.3.0 and 7.5.0, both of which produced the same error.
