You may want to run
make && sudo make install
.
You can run as
make SUDO=sudo install
.

option.c:886:33: error: expected declaration specifiers or ‘...’ before ‘u_int8_t’

Seems some more headers are needed.
Where is
uint8_t
defined on Solalis 11?

option.c:1003:16: error: ‘TCP_CA_Open’ undeclared (first use in this function)

It is defined in
<netinet/tcp.h>
on Linux, where on Solaris?

make && sudo make install still fails but you are correct. I tried a couple of times and looks like the last one I forgot the sudo

Hello, some feedback in-between, from #ruby IRC.

Aderium says that uname yields wrong information because something may have
changed in between different solaris versions:

Aderium: isainfo -n
Aderium: uname -a spits out incorrect info
Aderium: and ruby then always compiles in i386

My assumption then was that config.guess does not
correctly handle that component.

Aderium said that the 4 entries that he receives are these here:

uname -m = amd64
uname -r = 5.11
uname -s = SunOS
uname -v = 11.2

The first one for amd64 does not seem to be handled in the
current config.guess case menu.

confuses him right now.

I told him to provide some more feedback; he currently recompiles ruby after
grabbing libyaml (and compiling libyaml too; "gem env" does not want to work
without libyaml).

Try the following configure options.

Intel Solaris 11 64-bit compile:

% ./configure --build=x86_64-pc-solaris2.11 CFLAGS="-m64" LDFLAGS="-m64"

Intel Solaris 11 32-bit compile:

% ./configure --build=i386-pc-solaris2.11

or

% ./configure --build=i386-pc-solaris2.11 CFLAGS="-m32" LDFLAGS="-m32"

On Solaris, default compiler (Oracle Solaris Studio) always generates 32-bit binary by default,
and the configure does not set "-m32" or "-m64".
So, setting "-m64" to CFLAGS and LDFLAGS (and CXXFLAGS and DLDFLAGS, ...) is needed for 64-bit compile.

He managed to compile everything lately but has not yet commented here even though I suggested to him that he should. :)

I'll ask him again when I see him how he managed to compile it (he did manage to).
